The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot with smart mapping and app-based no go zones. Its 180-minute running time is impressive. It also automatically replenishes and self-empties its water tank.
1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.
The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most advanced robot vacuum to date. Its most significant innovation is a camera-based obstacle detection system that uses built-in AI to detect objects like charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste that most other robots can't avoid (and often slough through). It's the first robot to provide you with pictures of the objects that it encounters, so that you can instruct that it is safe to avoid it.
The Combo J7+ is the most efficient robot mop we've ever tested. It cleans up dirt and spills effortlessly, leaving no trace that it was there. It's easy to control through the iRobot Home app that lets you schedule cleaning and set up Keep Out Zones so that it doesn't clean areas you do not want it to. And it's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it from start to stop with your voice.
Its design is also a step above the competition and features a sleek, top piece that looks more like a toy robot rather than a loud, loud one. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System is self-emptying and is ideal for reducing your cleanup time.
In our tests the j7+ performed quick to pick up and remove dust, dirt and pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes held the debris in place rather than scattering it around the floor. It was able to capture small pieces of gravel, sand, and even a tiny bit of grit. Most robots could not do this. It did this without getting tangled in our pet's hair.
Although it's not as sophisticated as the $1,217 iRobot Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum and can't clean stairs, the J7+ is an excellent choice for those who require both mopping and a vac in their home. It's not too expensive and the iRobot App makes it simple to use.
While the iRobot Home app is very easy to use however, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and sometimes it's hard to determine if the update is actually functioning until you've seen it in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
When you're looking for a robot vacuum that does more than simply clean floors, the best choice is probably a hybrid. These machines are equipped with a tank of water so they can mop and vacuum at the same time. They also come with many additional features, including smart mapping and small object avoidance and the possibility of washing and re-drying mopping pads. They are expensive at full retail but often lower prices on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
Roborock is one of our top robot vacuums and the Q5+ is no exception. This is the least expensive model of their auto-empty line. While it may not come with some of the expensive features (like no-go zones or multi-story memories) however, it's an excellent choice if you are willing to compromise to save a few bucks.
The Q5+ is exceptionally gentle when it comes down to obstacles like table legs and walls. This makes it an excellent choice for homes that have a lot of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to cleaning up dust bunnies, which is a place which many robot vacuums can really fall short. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is superb and has very few missing in corners and along walls.
Like other Roborock devices like the Q5+, the Q5+ can be controlled using the buttons on the device itself or through the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleanings or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones, and modify your home map or change the labels of rooms.
If you opt for the Q5+, it comes with a new auto-empty dock, which was specifically designed to make this robot simple to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver but once it's installed it can be done with relative ease. It also comes with a large LCD display, which is nice to have when you're creating schedules or changing settings. This isn't an essential feature for most people, but it's one that will help you keep track of your robot's maintenance intervals effortlessly.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart, well-rounded vacuum and mop. It's capable of both vacuuming and mopping. Its design is among the best in the industry however, it's costly.
It is a relatively small base station that looks beautiful and is easily hidden when not in use. The main reason to buy the station is that it automates many tasks, functions, and chores that other robots would leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which many other robots require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot clean and charged.
Its vacuuming performance is quite impressive, too. It's one of the few robot vacuums I've tested that does very well at collecting debris from bare floors, and it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot 900 series.
The Freo X Ultra is not without faults, particularly when it comes to navigation. Its laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable and reliable as other robovacs. This means it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas or rooms of your home. It can't climb stairs as well as some competitors, for instance and doesn't come with an dock that allows you to set up an exclusive cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.
While it doesn't offer as much in the way of cleaning options available in its app or as many in-app shortcuts as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for anyone seeking a great all-round robot vacuum and mop that's worth the premium price tag.
If you're looking to cut costs or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are alternatives available. A lot of eufy models are considerably less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for example is a bit more expensive however it comes with more features, such as the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, that provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on plain floors carpets, low-pile carpets as well as high-pile carpets.
4. Eufy RoboVac G30
eufy, an Anker company, has a track record of making robot vacuums that strike a good balance between performance, features and price. It charges faster, offers a similar battery life, and performs better on bare carpet or floors with low pile. It has a bigger dust bin, which does not require as much emptying. It also has border strips that block it from certain areas. The G30 is less expensive and easier to maintain. Its smaller canister means it doesn't need to be empty as often and has less difficulty with bulky items such as cereal.
