The mops have a sophisticated system that cleans along the edges of walls and around furniture. The robot is able to easily get around obstacles like food bowls, toys and backpacks. But it can become stuck or get caught up in smaller and flatter objects such as shoelaces, USB cables and pen.
We utilized this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors in a large, open floor plan. It vacuumed and mops the 90m2 space in 170 minutes with FREO Mind enabled. This is a bit more than average for Gen 4 robots.

Its 2,500Pa of suction was a little weaker than other robots but it was able to move quickly and was very quiet. It didn't mop however, and its removable cleaning pads were a bit difficult to attach and couldn't cope with dirt that had dried on.
Its app isn't equipped with advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa however its voice commands don't seem to be very clear or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it comes back to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow a wall or trace an earlier route, but the RX3 bumbles around until it finally gives up.
Another issue we had was with its smart features, specifically the mapping function as well as digital keep-out zones. It was good at keeping our furniture legs and shoes away but it was easily hung up on socks, cables, and carpets. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. Still, with a decent price and a dazzling performance The Scout RX3 is worth considering if you're looking for an alternative to the traditional uprights.
